People love to visit craft shows because they want to find unique items that have been handcrafted by someone who is passionate about what they create. They can come home after the show and share what cool handmade product(s) they purchased to their friends, family, and co-workers. If you are thinking of attending a show this year (market season kicks off in the spring), here are some reasons why you should. 5 Reasons to Attend an In Person Market1. Experience the Product Hands OnIf you have been looking at a piece of jewellery online or perhaps a candle that you are interested in, why not come see it in person. You can try on that necklace and see if you like it on you. Perhaps you thought you wanted a sweet smelling candle but after smelling it in person you decide to purchase a different scent. 2. Wider Selection of ProductsAs a maker I find it difficult to post every piece of jewellery I make to my website. I will include new collections a few times a year, but that doesn't mean that's the only jewellery I have made. I bring a lot more styles to my markets so that customers have a variety of choices. There are pieces that I have sold that have never made it to my website. This is a common practice among other makers too. Plus if you are buying handmade as a gift, you can be sure that you won't end up giving the same gift as someone else. 3. Meet the MakerAfter we have spent so much time not seeing people, it's so nice to come out and meet the makers. At a market you can ask them questions, get to know them on a more personal level and make the decision if you are going to purchase a product. You may come to a market to see a specific maker, but did you also meet new makers too? I bet you have and that's what makes markets great. You have so many makers all in one place. 4. Special Market PerksThere are many perks to attending a market. Makers usually have a special market promo that you only find at the market. There are giveaways from makers if you subscribe to their newsletter. There also giveaways from the organizers too whether it be products or cash to spend at the market. 5. Supporting Small ShopsSupporting small and local is so important. When you support at a locally owned business, more money is kept in the community. Small businesses are known for supporting local charities and causes. Local businesses value their customers and offer better customer service. If you are contemplating whether to attend a craft market, I hope that reading this helps. They are great ways to spend time with a friend or a family member too.
