Who loves to pack when you are going away? Not me! I have a list that I go by. I add and subtract depending on the type of travel it is. One of the last items I always pack is my jewellery. What jewellery I decide to pack depends on the type of place I am going. But no matter where I am going I always to try to do the following.
5 Tips for Jewellery Safety When Travelling
1. Invest in a Jewellery Travel Case
A hard top jewellery case is so worth it. It keeps your jewellery organized and protects it from getting damaged. If you are looking to support a small business @sodawithlimedesigns sells these jewellery cases and makes them personalized for you.
2. Use bags to organize your Jewellery
Use separate bags for necklaces and earrings. Packing each piece of jewellery in a separate bag helps to keep them from get tangled. If it's silver, it also helps to protect them from air. Bracelets can be stored together if they are stretch bracelets, but chain bracelets should be store separately. Rings have a nice little area in this travel case for storage.
3. Are you taking expensive jewellery?
If you are planning to take more expensive jewellery with you, I highly recommend wearing it if you are going on an airplane. Better yet leaves those wedding rings at home and wear one less expensive ring band on your finger.
4. Use a carry on for storage
If you are flying, pack the jewellery travel case with your carry on and keep it with you at all times.
5. Safety boxes are essential
You have arrived at your destination! Find the safety box and lock all your jewellery up. Take it out as you wear it but return it when not. If you have some costume jewellery with you, you might not need to lock it up. I always get a glass and store those pieces in the glass in the bathroom counter when I go to bed. The last thing you want is for a piece of jewellery to go the down drain! Or to be stolen with the cleaning staff. Believe me I have heard stories of this happening.
If you are planning on travelling this summer, I hope this helps. Let me know in the comments where you are off to. I would love to hear!
